BJD MLA Pravat Biswal admitted to Capital Hospital

Bhubaneswar: BJD MLA Pravat Biswal, who was arrested by CBI in connection with a land fraud involving Seashore Group of Companies, was admitted to Capital Hospital here late on Friday following preliminary medical examination by doctors at Jharpada Special Jail.

Pravat was earlier sent to the jail after the CBI produced him in the court, a day before the end of his four-day remand period.

The court had then directed the jail superintendent to conduct a health examination of the legislator and shift him to Capital Hospital, if required as he had undergone a surgery recently. The doctors, who had examined him after his arrest on Tuesday, had found symptoms of high blood pressure.

The hearing on Pravat’s bail petition will be held today, sources said.
