BJD MLA Pravat Biswal To Head For AIIMS-New Delhi

Bhubaneswar: BJD’s Choudwar-Cuttack MLA Pravat Biswal, who had been undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for past nine months, was discharged on Saturday.

He will be sent to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, for better treatment, sources said.

Two days ago, the Orissa High Court had granted permission to the legislator to travel outside the state for treatment.

The lawmaker, who was arrested for his alleged links with Seashore chit fund scam, was released on bail in the recent past.

Biswal was arrested by the CBI on September 19 last year from his Mahanadi Vihar residence in Cuttack.

He got the bail on June 26 after furnishing two sureties of Rs 5 lakh each. The conditions remained the same as laid down by the court while granting him interim bail for two months on April 24. The court has asked him not to destroy any evidence pertaining to the case and co-operate the investigating officials.
