Bhubaneswar: The Special CJM CBI Court here on Saturday rejected BJD MLA Pravat Biswal’s bail plea in connection with a land fraud involving Ponzi firm Seashore Group of companies.
Pravat’s counsel Anup Patnaik had moved the bail petition citing health reasons.
The CBI’s counsel argued that the Cuttack-Choudwar MLA of the ruling party might either try to influence the probe or tamper with evidence if granted bail, sources said.
Pravat was sent to Jharpada Special Jail after he was produced in the court by the CBI on Friday, two days before the end of the four-day remand period. Following medical examination by the doctors there, he was later admitted to Capital Hospital. He is currently undergoing treatment there.
The doctors, who had examined the legislator after his arrest on Tuesday, had found symptoms of high blood pressure.
