Bhubaneswar: BJD has moved Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha against BJP’s MLA candidate Rabindra Nath Andia for allegedly distributing money and foreign liquor among people.
A delegation of senior leaders of the BJD filed a complaint with the CEO in this regard on Saturday. They alleged in the complaint that the BJP candidate for Basta Assembly seat in Balasore district was found distributing money and foreign liquor at Barakaurda village in Ratai Gram Panchayat of Baliapal block in the district at 10 pm on Friday.
An FIR has also been lodged at Basta police station in this regard. Since Andia was involved in the illegal act during the pre-poll silence period, the BJD leaders sought intervention of the CEO and action against him.
Urging the CEO to intensify monitoring in the constituency and uphold rule of law, the BJD leaders also demanded legal action against the BJP MLA candidate.
