Bhubaneswar: Rishabh Nanda, son of senior BJD leader and Rajya Sabha member Prashanta Nanda, on Thursday joined the BJP after being denied a ticket to contest the assembly election.
He embraced the saffron patry during the ‘Misrana Parva’ at the BJP headquarters office here in the presence Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, party state president Basanta Panda, party national vice-president Baijayant Panda and senior leader KV Singh Deo.
Notably, Rishab had been lobbying for a BJD ticket for Begunia assembly seat. His father and BJD spokesperson had won the seat twice — 2000 as a BJP candidate and again in 2009 as a NCP nominee.
Prasanta Kumar Jagadev of BJD is the sitting MLA from Begunia.
