New Delhi: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Thursday opposed the decision of the Centre to form a single inter-state river water disputes tribunal.
Raising the issue in Lok Sabha, BJD MP Bhartruhari Mahtab said although the issue of water resources is a state subject, there has been no discussion and deliberation on this matter.
He maintained that the Centre, which had taken a suo motu decision on this matter, should seek the opinion of the states before presenting the bill for formation of single inter-state river water disputes tribunal in the Lower House.
