Bhubaneswar: The BJD has demanded for scrapping the statewide events to mark the one-year anniversary of BJP government in Odisha, citing a note sheet signed by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi that highlights governance lapses.
It has instead urged for redirecting the funds for genuine development and public welfare.
At a press conference at Shankha Bhavan, BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty pointed out the government’s numerous failures across sectors, with the Chief Minister’s note sheet serving as an admission of these shortcomings.

The note sheet reveals prolonged delays in processing official files at the levels of Ministers, Departmental Secretaries, and Directors, hindering the use of budgeted funds and affecting government performance.
Mohanty emphasised that the BJD, as a responsible opposition, has been consistently highlighting these issues. He questioned the BJP’s claim of “success,” calling the planned celebrations a propaganda stunt to mask inefficiencies. “The state government is celebrating when its own internal communications reflect failure and inefficiency,” he said.

Accusing the BJP of gaining power through false promises and baseless allegations against the previous BJD regime, he condemned the use of public funds for what he termed a hollow publicity exercise.
