Sambalpur: The BJD leaders in Odisha’s Sambalpur on Saturday met Collector and Election Returning Officer Akshay Sunil Agrawal and demanded stringent action against BJP district unit for violating model code of conduct by painting private walls without owners consent.
In a letter submitted to the collector, the BJD leaders said that the saffron party is making false promises to the people through wall-writings/paintings made at numerous locations across the district.
Enclosing a picture of the wall paintings along with the letter, they alleged that the party was defacing public and private walls, besides trying to fool people by making promises not mentioned in its election manifesto.
“Doing such things without the permission of the private owners in case of private properties is completely illegal,” the party said, adding that this was in violation of the model code of conduct prescribed by Election Commission of India.
