Bhubaneswar: A day after seeking the arrest of BJP workers for violence at Padampur, the BJD again moved the Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha, on Friday for increasing the security of its Batli MLA Susanta Singh.
The ruling party members said that they fear a murderous attack on the MLA. Two BJP leaders, who had allegedly attacked Singh’s brother during the 2018 Bijepur by-poll and have been in jail, are campaigning for the saffron party in Padampur bypoll, the party said, adding that they fear a similar attack on its MLA.
“It is also being heard that they are now planning to attack BJD MLA in this Padampur by-poll. We, therefore, request you to kindly increase the security of Singh to protect him from this murderous conspiracy that has been hatched again by these BJP
leaders,” BJD said in its memorandum.
Notably, BJP candidate Pradip Purohit has also accused the ruling BJD of planning to kill him.
