Bhubaneswar: Hundreds of Biju Yuva and Chhatra Janata Dal activists staged peaceful demonstrations in front 13 petrol pumps in the city on Saturday demanding immediate rollback of petrol and diesel price hike.
“Steep hike in petrol and diesel prices has triggered resentment among the common man, particularly the downtrodden people, and all sectors of the economy as prices of essential commodities are skyrocketing due to the frequent hikes. Despite gradual fall in oil prices globally, the Centre has failed to control fuel prices in the country”, a party leader said.
The party members distributed leaflets among people at petrol pumps including Chandrasekharpur, CRP Square, Vani Vihar Square, Ram Mandir Square, Kalpana Square, Khandagiri Square, Saheed Nagar, Market Building (Unit-2), Cuttack Road, Lewis Road, Kalinga Stadium and Raj Bhawan to sensitise them as how the Centre is looting the consumers, the leader added.
