New Delhi: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has supported the resolution introduced in Parliament on Monday for revoking Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
Supporting the resolution, BJD MP Prasanna Acharya said: “Today in the real sense, Jammu and Kashmir has become an integral part of India”.
“We are a regional party, but for us, the nation comes first. The freedom, integrity and sovereignty of Bharat Mata are paramount for us. Therefore, my party, our leader Naveen Patnaik and I completely support it,” Acharya said.
The AIADMK and the BSP also supported the resolution presented in the House by Home Minister Amit Shah.
Acharya took strong exception to PDP Rajya Sabha members’ Mir Fayaz and Nazir Ahmed Lawa attempt to tear the Indian Constitution inside the House to protest against the scrapping of Article 370. “It’s a deplorable act. I condemn it. This is unpardonable,” he said.
