Bhubaneswar: Gearing up for 2024 Lok Sabha and state Assembly polls, Odisha’s ruling BJD is training its leaders and party workers in the tricks of social media.
As part of the exercise to maximise the social media presence of party leaders, all elected members including ministers are now learning the tricks of posting on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and using Whatsapp properly.
“Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is always ahead of other political parties. It initiates action much before others chalk out their plans and strategies,” senior BJD leader Pradeep Majhi.
Stating that every leader in the party is being trained properly in the use of social media, he said BJD is going to use social media as a major weapon in the next elections. “People of Odisha will the results. There will be a revolutionary change in information and communication,” Majhi said.
Elected leaders are being trained to reach out to more people with information about the government’s schemes and programmes, the BJD leader said, adding that the party has issued an advisory to all its senior leaders and other party members to participate in different social media campaigns actively and spread achievements of the state government.
Those leaders and party workers who do not have any accounts on social media platforms, have also been asked to immediately open their accounts and stay active in order to increase their followers.
This apart, BJD leaders will also counter opposition campaign against the state government through their social media posts, sources said.
