BJD To Support NDA Candidate Om Birla For LS Speaker Post

New Delhi: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has decided to support NDA candidate Om Birla for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker.

The decision to this effect was taken at the BJD Parliamentary Party meeting here on Tuesday.

Talking to mediapersons after the meeting, leader of the BJD Parliamentary Party, Pinaki Mishra said that the Centre had sought the support of the BJD for it’s candidate as the Speaker of the Lower House.

On the election for the post of the Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha, Mishra said there has been no decision taken in this regard.

He, however, said that if the BJD gets a proposal from the BJP on this matter, the party supremo will take a decision.

A two-time MP from Kota in Rajasthan, Birla has been associated with the BJP youth wing and was also in charge of the organisational revamp in Rajasthan in 2018.
