Bhubaneswar: The women’s wing of the ruling BJD has decided to launch a statewide public awareness programme from September 24 to 30 to make people aware about different developmental works taken up by the Odisha government.
Addressing a press conference here, BJD Mahila Janata Dal president Pramila Mallick said, “During the programme, party leaders and activists will move to every village of the state and spread awareness among the people about various steps being taken by the government for women empowerment, youth development and improvement of healthcare services.”
Highlighting the achievements of the state government for the development of women, the party’s women’s wing chief said, “The government has been providing loans at one per cent interest to women self-help groups. This has benefitted about three lakh women of the state.”
Taking a dig at the Centre for allegedly neglecting Odisha since long by not granting special category status to the state, Mallick said the Central Government has been creating hurdles for the state in carrying out different developmental activities.
