Puri: A businessman was critically injured after being shot at by unidentified miscreants on Red Cross Road in Odisha’s Puri town on Wednesday.
The injured, identified as Somnath Sahoo, is stated to be a youth leader of the ruling BJD.
According to sources, Somanth was near a godown when four miscreants attacked him and opened fire at him. The miscreants immediately fled the spot after attacking Somnath, who sustained critical injuries.
Locals rushed him to the hospital for treatment. His condition was stated to be critical.
On being informed, a team of police personnel reached the spot and initiated a probe into the incident. Efforts are on to nab the absconding miscreants. CCTVs in the area are being examined as part of the probe, said Additional Superintendent of Police Sushil Mishra.
Eyewitnesses and local residents are being questioned, while a scientific team also visited the site.
