Sundargarh: A youth leader of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) was found hanging under mysterious circumstances at his residence at Rajabati under Town police limits in Odisha’s Sundargarh on Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Dhiraj Prasad, the party’s Sundargarh town unit president.
According to sources, he was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his house and it is being suspected that he died by suicide. Hours before his death, Dhiraj was reportedly partying with his friends. At 12.52 am, he shared a WhatsApp status that read, ‘Sorry all of you’.
Though the exact reason behind his death is yet to be ascertained, speculation is rife that the young BJD leader might have taken the extreme step over a failed love affair.
On being informed about the incident, the Town Police rushed to the spot and sent the body to Sundargarh hospital for post-mortem. A case of unnatural death has been registered and investigation is underway.
