BJD ZP Member’s Death: BJP Demands Minister’s Resignation, Stages Protest In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The leaders and workers of Odisha unit of BJP on Saturday staged a demonstration in front of the office of Bhubaneswar DCP demanding investigation into the role of Education Minister in the death of a ZP member of BJD.

Hundreds of state BJP workers took out a rally and staged the demonstration alleging that the police have been deliberately dilly-dallying the investigation into the death of Zilla Parishad (ZP) member Dharmendra Sahoo. The ZP member of Nimapada Zone 11 in Puri district was found hanging at his residence in Sishupalgarh area of Bhubaneswar on September 24.

Stating that no progress had been made in the case even 7 days after the death of Sahoo, the BJP workers said the police were trying to protect School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash.

They demanded that the viral audio clip purportedly having discussion between Sahoo and Dash should be investigated as it had evidence of the minister’s complicity in alleged suicide of the ZP member.

Accusing Minister Dash of being responsible for Sahoo’s death, the demonstrators said he must step down from the post to facilitate a fair and impartial investigation into the case.

Earlier, senior BJP leader Pravati Parida had linked Dash to the death of Sahoo and said police should investigate his role in the incident as it appeared to be a case of murder.

However, the Minister has refuted the allegation and said the truth would be revealed after investigation.
