Bhubaneswar: A delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday approached the State Election Commission (SEC) over attack on party workers during Hindol NAC poll campaigning.
The BJP members submitted a memorandum to the SEC alleging some party members were attacked by a group of BJD activists during campaigning at ward no. 7 on Thursday. They demanded strict action against those involved in the attack.
“Two of the party workers were injured in the attack. It has become clear that the police are safeguarding the interests of the ruling BJD. We strongly condemn the act and demand immediate steps to ensure free and fair election”, party’s state vice-president Samir Mohanty.
On the other hand, Biju Mahila Janata Dal state secretary Sagarika Mishra has rubbished the allegation made by the saffron party and termed it as completely baseless.
