Bhubaneswar: The BJP youth wing launched a statewide agitation against alleged massive irregularities in the recruitment by the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC), on Wednesday.
This followed the arrest of OSSC member Biranchi Narayan Sahu, who had allegedly accumulated disproportionate assets through kickbacks from candidates.
The BJP Yuva Morcha activists led by the Bhubaneswar district unit president Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra staged a demonstration near Master Canteen Square here.
Apart from this, the Morcha activists staged demonstrations at 73 places across the state and burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Briefing the media, BJP Yuva Morcha president Irashis Acharya said that OSSC is the recruitment sales commission of the state government. “The recruitment was done on the basis of the money offered by the candidates,” he alleged.
The volume of corruption in the state has gone up with the creation of the 5T department, he added.
Acharya demanded a probe into such appointments. “Biranchi Sahu was a broker. He alone cannot strike a deal with the candidates. Let there be a CBI probe to identify the officers who are the behind-the-scene operators,” he added.
