Bhubaneswar: With the byelection to the Bijepur Assembly constituency in Odisha’s Bargarh district less than a month away, the state BJP has begun its strategy to woo the voters.
As part of its strategy, three senior party leaders have been given the charge of three blocks in the constituency.
While state party president Basanta Panda will be in charge of Barpali block, KV Singhdeo and Jayanarayhan Mishra would remain in charge of Gaisilat and Bijepur blocks respectively.
The party will announce its candidate for the ensuing bypoll very shorty, party sources said. BJD renegade Ashok Panigrahi is likely to be the saffron party’s nominee for the byelection.
While the Congress is yet to announce its candidate, the ruling BJD has announced the name of Rita Sahu, widow of former Bijepur Congress MLA Subala Sahu as its candidate.
