Bargarh: With only a week left for the byelection to the Bijepur Assembly constituency in Odisha’s Bargarh district, the BJP has intensified its poll campaign with two senior Central party leaders and Union ministers arriving in the constituency on Friday.
While the Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan arrived at the Bijepur Block at around 10 AM, Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti arrived at the Gaisilat Block at 11 AM.
After attending a party function at Bijepur Block where former BJD leader Sanat Gadatia joined the BJP along with his 500 supporters, Pradhan went on a bike rally around Barpalli town. He is scheduled to address public meetings at Remta, Kumbhari, Patkulunda and Kainsira later in the day.
Soon after his arrival in Gaisilat Block, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti went to Maharpalli, Gourenmunda, and Dhourakhaman where he addressed a public meeting in presence of his party candidate Ashok Panigrahi. He is scheduled to attend public meetings at Salepali, Denguripali, Turcha and Simelaguda later.
Besides, Ollywood actor Mihir Das and popular actress Mahasweta Ray also joined the campaign for the BJP candidate.
The byelection would be held on February 24 while counting of votes and results would be announced on February 28.
