Puri: The district unit workers of the BJP, who have been staging a dharna against the alleged illegal plotting and sale of Bagala Dharmashala land, launched a signature campaign on the issue in the town on Saturday.

The BJP workers said the signature campaign was launched all the 32 wards of Puri Municipality. They have decided to take out a padyatra from Puri Srimandir to Naveen Niwas, the residence of chief minister Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneswar, on Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 to press their demand for scrapping the sale deeds of the Dharmashala land.

“Though we have been sitting on the dharna on the issue for 27 days, the administration is yet to hold a meeting with us. So we have launched a signature campaign to mobilise public opinion. Then, we will meet the chief minister to submit the document pertaining to illegal deals,” said BJP leader Prabhanjan Mohapatra.
