Bhubaneswar: The BJP on Sunday formally began its election campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections by launching a Vijay Sankalp Yatra across the state.
Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan attended the Yatra at Kisan Nagar in Athamallik in Angul district while other party leaders joined it at various places.
Talking to journalists here, state BJP general secretary Bhrugu Buxipatra said that during the week-long programme, his party will organise around 5,000 public meetings in urban and rural areas.
He said a meeting of party workers and leaders of five Assembly constituencies under Berhampur Lok Sabha seat was held recently where a decision was taken to organise 250 street plays in Berhampur, Chikiti, Digapahandi, Gopalpur and Chhatrapur Assembly constituencies to disseminate a message to the people for a change of guard in Odisha politics.
The week-long yatra will conclude on March 17.
