Bhubaneswar: More than 10 days after the death of an Odia man in Abu Dhabi, the body was brought back to his village in Kendrapada district on Thursday following the intervention of BJP national vice-president Baijayant Jay Panda.
The man has been identified as Narayan Rout of Chakibanka village under Rajnagar police limits in the district. He died on December 12 while on-duty in Abu Dhabi.
After learning about the tragic death of Narayan, his brother Sudhir approached the BJP leader and former Kendrapada MP to help in bringing back the body to his native village.
Panda sought diplomatic intervention of Embassy of India in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dubai. After fulfilling all the formalities, on December 23 Narayan’s body reached Bhubaneswar airport where Panda’s office received he body. Later, Narayan’s mortal remains were handed over to his family members.
