BJP Leader Detained Ahead Of CM’s Sambalpur Visit

Sambalpur: In view of possible protests ahead of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit to Sambalpur, police picked up BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra from his house and detained him at the police station here on Friday morning.

Apprehending law and order situation, elaborate security arrangements have been made in the city with the deployment of police forces at sensitive locations.

The Chief Minister, during his one-day visit, will inaugurate a newly-constructed bridge over Mahanadi near Nelson Mandela Chhak, sources said.

Built at a cost of Rs 11.7.72 crore, the 1.5 km-long bridge will immensely benefit the people of Chaunrapur, Goshala and Chipilima in uplifting their socio-economic livelihood.

This apart, the Chief Minister will inaugurate 19 development projects worth Rs 100 crore and lay the foundation stones of 14 development projects worth Rs 338 crore, the sources added.
