Jaipur: A BJP leader was found dead with his throat slit and multiple wounds on wrist.
The body of popular local leader Ramavtar Aswal, a resident of Jaipur Rural, was discovered in a scrap yard near the bus stand. His family went out looking for him when Aswal did
not return home on Monday.
According to police, the 55-year-old Aswal was at the warehouse on Monday evening when an unidentified attacker allegedly entered the premises and attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon.
Investigators believe the attacker slit his throat, and badly hurt his wrist, suggesting that Aswal may have tried to fend off the assailant.
Aswal was rushed to NIMS Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Even as an investigation is underway, angry relatives and local residents gathered outside the Manoharpur police station and staged a sit-in protest on Tuesday.
They demanded immediate arrest of the killer/s, financial compensation for the family and a government job for one of the victim’s relatives.
A heavy police force was deployed in the area as authorities sought to calm down the protesters with the assurance that the case will be solved at the earliest.
