Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader Pratap Sarangi on Wednesday praised the Jagannath Temple heritage corridor project (‘Parikrama Prakalpa) initiative of the state government.
Speaking on the sidelines of the BJP Executive Committee meeting here on Wednesday, the former union minister said planning and giving shape to such a noble work in the path of Lord Jagannath is a very dedicated job and is a welcome step.
However, he expressed displeasure over the destruction of mutts for paving the way for heritage corridor project and said equal importance should be given to mutts, which are also a part of our heritage.
“Compensating the mutts financial will not be sufficient. The government should convert the mutts into institutions of learning and spread Jagannath Sanskruti. The mutts holds historical significance and I request the government to restore the lost value and practices of the mutts,” said Sarangi.
