Lucknow: Unidentified assailants shot dead BJP leader Pramod Yadav in UP’s Jaunpur district on Thursday.
The crime took place near Bodhpur village, under Sikarara police station area.
According to police, the bike-borne assailants stopped the 55-year-old Yadav on the pretext of giving a ‘card’, and shot him three times.
Soon after, the assailants left their bike and fled.
Yadav, who was rushed to the hospital, was declared brought dead by doctors.
Jaunpur SP Ajaipal Sharma said that police are going all out to arrest the assailants with several teams pursuing important clues coming out of the initial investigation.
The president of Jaunpur district’s BJP Kisan Morcha, Yadav had contested the 2012 UP Assembly elections from Malhani constituency for the saffron party against Jagriti Singh, wife of former MP and strongman Dhananjay Singh, who was recently sentenced by an MP/MLA court to seven-year prison term in a 2020 kidnapping and extortion case.
