BJP Leader’s Daughter Detained Amid CJP Protest In Delhi; Know Why

New Delhi: Yashaswinee Raje Singh, daughter of former BJP MLA Vikram Singh from Uttar Pradesh, was on Saturday detained in Delhi amid the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led protest demanding the arrest of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.

Yashaswinee wrote on X that police picked her up for sitting in a park.

“Detained near Bangla Sahib for sitting in a park. currently being held in Keshav Puram police station,” she posted along with a picture of her and others flashing the V-sign.

Yashaswinee’s father Vikram is a prominent BJP leader from Uttar Pradesh, who won from Fatehpur Sadar constituency in 2014 and 2017, before losing in 2022.

Yashaswinee came into the limelight during the student and Gen-Z protests at Jantar Mantar in June-July, demanding the resignation of then-Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan over paper leaks.

She had backed the CJP campaign at the time, and even taken part in the protests.

As CJP returned to the streets in Delhi and called for another agitation at Jantar Mantar, this time against the CEC, police and the administration took no chances as the National capital was turned into a fortress.

More than 40,000 Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) personnel were deployed, barricades and spike strips installed to prevent the Abhijeet Dipke-led protest at Jantar Mantar.

The leading figures behind CJP, and several Opposition leaders who arrived in Delhi to join the protest, were detained by police.
