Bhubaneswar: Members of BJP Mahila Morcha on Wednesday lodged a complaint at Mahila police station here, alleging that three police personnel misbehaved with them during their protest near Naveen Niwas the previous day.
The members led by BJP state secretary Lekhashree Samantaray filed a written complaint stating that the three policemen, including Nirmal Satpathy and Anup Kanungo, misbehaved with the women agitators while attempting to disperse them and foil their bid to enter Naveen Niwas.
The party workers demanded action against them.
More than 10 BJP Mahila Morcha activists were arrested by police on Tuesday for allegedly attempting to barge into Naveen Niwas here.
Hundreds of women activists of the saffron party had taken out a rally from the party office and were intercepted by police near Raj Mahal Square while attempting to move towards Naveen Niwas to meet the Chief Minister and question him over the derogatory remarks of agricultural minister Pradeep Maharathy against women.
Meanwhile, another group of activists somehow reached near Naveen Niwas and staged a demonstration in front of it. Later, they clashed with police when stopped from resorting to protest.
Following this, the cops arrested several party workers.
The party members were protesting against the alleged objectionable remarks against women made by the minister recently during a media reaction, which later went viral.
They were demanding immediate apology and ouster of the minister from the cabinet.
On the other hand, the minister said that he never made any remark insulting women.
