BJP MLA Disqualified From Assembly, Jailed For 5 Years; Know Why

Lucknow: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA has been disqualified from the Uttar Pradesh Assembly after a special court convicted him for producing a fake marksheet to get admission in college.

Indra Pratap alias Khabbu Tiwari has been sentenced to five years in prison.

He was elected from the Gosaiganj constituency in Ayodhya during the UP assembly elections in 2017.

A notification issued by the Principal Secretary of UP’s Legislative Assembly stated that the membership of Khabbu Tiwari has been terminated with effect from October 18.
