Puri: In a humanitarian gesture, BJP legislator Lalitendu Mohapatra on Tuesday came to the rescue of a couple, who were seriously injured in a road accident, by taking them in his car to hospital in Odisha’s Puri district.
As per reports, the MLA of Brahmagiri constituency in the district was going in his car on Puri-Bhubaneswar national highway when he saw the couple lying in a pool of blood at Teishipur under Pipli tehsil.
Mohapatra stopped the car and went to enquire about the couple’s condition. On finding that they were seriously injured and were bleeding, he took them in his car to nearby hospital at Mangalpur. The BJP leader informed their family members and told the doctors to provide all possible treatment to them.
Following treatment, the condition of the couple was stated to be stable. The timely intervention by the MLA saved their lives, the hospital sources said.
The couple from Jadupur in Bhubaneswar were going on a bike when an unidentified vehicle hit them. They fell down from the bike on the impact and were severely injured.
In a similar action on Sunday, former Berhampur MP Siddhant Mohapatra came to the rescue of a lawyer who met an accident on Pahala flyover on NH-16 on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
