Bhubaneswar: After petitioning Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for removal of alleged encroachment to enable farmers to get water from Deras Minor Irrigation Project on Bhubaneswar outskirts, BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi alleged that no concrete step has so far been taken in this regard.
Writing on X, the Bhubaneswar MP said over eight days have elapsed since she approached the authorities concerned and emphasised that administrative procedures must be respected.
The firebrand BJP leader said she has again sent reminders to the officials seeking steps to clear the blockade of water the lands of farmers and to demarcate the land encroached by an influential woman entrepreneur. She also wondered as to how long the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO will “cover up.”
In a fresh letter to Khurda district collector K Sudarshan Chakravarthy, the Parliamentarian sought immediate demarcation of disputed land near Deras MIP, removal of encroachment and clearance of blockage of water flow to the lands of farmers.
The Lok Sabha member expressed the hope that the requests made by her in the interest of farmers and private plot holders will be attended to without further delay.
In a similar reminder to the Chief Engineer of Irrigation department, Aparajita sought quick steps for clearance of the irrigation canal of Deras MIP in Giringaput and Bhagabatipur mouzas of Mendhasal and Kantabad gram panchayats respectively.
