Bhubaneswar: Bharatiya Janata Party MPs from Odisha lashed out at Congress leader and former Union Minister Salman Khurshid on Wednesday after he suggested that what is happening in neighbouring Bangladesh can take place in India also.
Launching a scathing attack against the Congress leader, BJP MP from Balasore Pratap Chandra Sarangi told reporters that Khurshid is in the habit of making absurd statements. “He (Khurshid) even went to Pakistan once and sought their help to rein in Modi Ji,” he claimed.
It seems that Khurshid is interested in spreading anarchy in India, but his statement will have no impact and his dream will never come true as India is a strong country, the former Union Minister said. The government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is very strong, unlike the Manmohan Singh regime, the BJP MP said.
Notably, Khurshid while speaking at a book launch event in New Delhi suggested that violent anti-government protests akin to those in Bangladesh could potentially occur in India, though the situation appears to be normal at the surface.
Attacking Khurshid in same vein, BJP MP from Puri Sambit Patra said Khurshid made the statement during a book release function where others, including Sashi Tharoor, were also present. However, they kept silent, and in a way supported his statement.
Coming down heavily on Congress, he claimed that whenever Rahul Gandhi went abroad, he used to meet many people secretly and speak against India. “Now we are getting to know what his intention was,” he added.
