Bhubaneswar: BJP national president JP Nadda will be visiting Odisha’s Kalahandi on June 23 instead of June 22, party’s Kalahandi MP Basanta Panda informed on Tuesday.
“The visit was postponed by a day due to some unavoidable circumstances,” he added.
Nadda was earlier scheduled to arrive in Odisha at 11 am and then visit Manikeshwari Temple in Kalahandi. He was then scheduled to address a rally at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium there and present the report card of the PM Narendra Modi government in the last nine years.
Earlier, senior party leader and Home Minister Amit Shah’s scheduled visit to Odisha, where a massive public outreach programme is being held, on June 17 was put on hold in view of Cyclone Biparjoy.
Notably, the Odisha unit of the BJP has planned public rallies by the party’s top leaders such as PM Narendra Modi Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, to keep the party ready in case the assembly elections, scheduled to be held in May 2024, are advanced. The party workers will also reach out to around one crore households in the state as a part of the ‘Maha Jansampark Abhiyan’.
The month-long pan-India campaign was launched on May 31 with an aim to connect with 1,000 notable individuals, who are distinguished by the receipt of civilian awards like Padma awards or the President’s medals during their service, from each Lok Sabha constituency. Over 51 huge rallies, public meetings at more than 500 places, and over 600 press conferences in over 500 Lok Sabha and 4000 Vidhan Sabha constituencies will be conducted till June 30 and over 5 lakh distinguished families will be contacted, the BJP sources said.
