Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday announced its candidate for Jeypore Assembly constituency in Odisha’s Koraput district.
In a press release on Sunday, the central office of the BJP in New Delhi said the party has approved the name of Goutam Samantray as its candidate for Jeypore Assembly segment under Koraput Lok Sabha constituency.
Goutam had also contested in 2019 Assembly elections from Jeypore. His main rival in the election was Rabi Narayan Nanda of BJD. Son of Bhaskar Samantray, Goutam is a businessman in profession.
The ruling BJD on Wednesday nominated Indira Nanda, former president of Koraput Central Cooperative Bank and wife of former minister Rabi Narayan Nanda, as its candidate for Jeypore.
The sitting MLA and Congress candidate for the Assembly seat Tara Prasad Bahinipati has already filed his nomination papers for the election.
