Bhubaneswar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday alleged that posters, hoardings and banners of the Odisha government are yet to be removed from different places in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack though the model code of conduct (MCC) for the upcoming elections has already come into force.
A delegation of BJP, led by state party vice-president Lekhashree Samantsinghar, visited the office of the Chief Electoral Officer and lodged a complaint in this regard. The delegation submitted a complaint along with pictorial evidence of their allegations.

BJP leaders claimed that posters highlighting Jaga Mission and Mukta Yojana are still visible at the BJD’s ward offices of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC).

This apart, the ruling BJD has been giving publicity to Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha programme in rural areas, they claimed.

Samantasinghar said the Election Commission of India (ECI) has already announced that since the model code of conduct has come into force with the declaration of poll schedule. All these advertisements of the government displayed at public places should be removed forthwith, she said.

However, big hoardings of the ruling party showing the pictures of the Chief Minister along with the party symbol and slogans highlighting various programmes are still visible in many places, the BJP leader said, adding that the party gave all pictorial evidence to the CEO.

She said the CEO wanted to know the details of the places where such advertisements have been displayed and promised necessary steps at the earliest.
