Bhubaneswar: The ruling BJD on Friday criticized the BJP for playing politics over Lord Jagannath.
Briefing media persons here, BJD spokesperson Amar Prasad Satpathy said the BJP can play politics on certain issues but not over Lord Jagannath.
Referring to the decision of the saffron party to launch a statewide agitation on the missing of the Ratna Bhandar keys, he said the party should bear in mind that Lord Jagannath does not belong to any specific community.
Stating that the state government has instituted a judicial commission of inquiry for a thorough probe into the matter, Satpathy said anyone having complaint on Ratna Bhandar matter can submit it through an affidavit before the inquiry commission.
He also said that BJP’s gameplan to play politics over Lord Jagannath will boomerang on the party.
Meanwhile, expressing grave concern over the issue, Governor Ganeshi Lal on Friday asked the state government to unravel the truth regarding the missing keys of the Ratna Bhandara.
Welcoming the decision of the state government for a judicial inquiry into the matter, he hoped that the commission would be able to find out under what circumstances the keys had gone missing.
