Bhubaneswar: The honeytrap kingpin Archana Nag issue found echo in Parliament on Thursday as the BJP demanded CBI probe into the case.
Raising the high-profile case in the Lok Sabha, Bargarh MP of BJP Suresh Pujari said several political leaders, businessman, Bollywood personalities, bureaucrats and police officials were allegedly involved in the matter.
The MP said the honey-trap of these people by Archana has come as a shock to the entire state. Though Archana reportedly used to extort huge amount from them, their association with Archana is a shameful act, he added.
“This is not good sign for the democracy and will lead to situation where voters will start losing faith in politicians, bureaucrats and thereby causing harm to the system itself unless a thorough investigation is conducted by a competent agency like the CBI, and all the culprits are nabbed and tried by a fast track court,” a local TV channel quoted Pujari as saying.
It may be noted that Archana and her aide Shradhanjali Behera have been facing a probe by Enforcement Directorate for money-laundering. The ED has registered a case against five persons including Archana, her husband Jagabandhu Chan and Shradhanjali under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Archana had allegedly deposited a significant amount of money in Shradhanjali’s bank account between 2017 and 2022. The latter had accused her of forcing her into prostitution and luring people to extort money from them by blackmailing. Archana was arrested by Khandagiri police on October 6 on basis of her complaint.
