Balangir: Executive member of Odisha BJP unit and former chairman of Bangomunda block in Balangir district, Rashtrapati Behera and his associate died while three others were seriously injured in a road accident near Khari late on Thursday.
According to police, Behera along with his associate and three supporters was enroute Bhubaneswar in a SUV when a speeding lorry rammed into the vehicle near Khari under Kantabanjhi police limits.
While Behera and his associate died on the spot, three others were seriously injured.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and admitted the injured to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla.Their health is stated to be critical.
Police later brought the two bodies to the district headquarters hospital. These will be handed over to the family members after postmortem on Friday morning, police said.
