Berhampur: Activists of BJP Yuva Morcha opposed Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit to Chatrapur in Ganjam district by staging a demosntration and waving black flags at the town on Sunday.
As the Chief Minister was about to arrive at the town after attending events at Kabisuryanagar and Hinjili in the district, several activists of BJP Yuva Morcha staged the progest demonstration at Chhatrapur Upper Bus stand, sources said.
Shouting slogans against the visit of Naveen, who is also the president of Biju Janata Dal (BJD), the demonstrators holding black flags tried to march towards the meeting venue but were stopped by police personnel.
Police personnel deployed in the area swung into action and swiftly took away the protesters. The demonstrators were detained as a preventive measure, sources said.
During his one-day visit to Ganjam, the Chief Minister also addressed a public rally in Chhatrapur and launched a host of development projects.
