Dhenkanal: Normal life was thrown out of gear following a 12-hour bandh at Bhuban in Dhenkanal district.
The bandh call was given by BJP Yuva Morcha over eight-point charter of demands, including sub-division status for the block.
While shops and other business establishments remained closed, vehicles stayed off the roads at several places.
The protestors staged demonstrations at different places and blocked NH-53 at Kalibazar Chhak, disrupting vehicular movement for several hours.
“Sub-division status for the block has been a longstanding demand. Bhuban fulfils all criteria for inclusion in the list. However, the state government has remained callous to this demand of ours,” a party member said.
Adequate police personnel have been deployed at many places in the block to maintain law and order.
