BJP holds silent protest against egg attacks on Union Ministers

Bhubaneswar: Activists of the state unit of BJP on Sunday staged a three-hour silent protest (Maun Satyagraha) across Odisha, condemning the recent egg attacks on Union Ministers.
Holding placards with anti-government slogans written on them, the party members led by senior leaders staged peaceful demonstrations at all municipalities, NACs and Zilla Parishad zones from 10 am to 1 pm. They had covered their mouth with black cloth.
“Egg attacks on Union Ministers are not at all acceptable in a democratic set up. Such incidents point at the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. The party demands immediate action against those responsible for those attacks,” party’s state vice-president Samir Mohanty said.
The vehicles of Union Ministers Jual Oram and Radha Mohan Singh were attacked with eggs on two different occasions recently.
The party also demanded a fair probe into the gang rape and killing of 45-year-old Dalit woman at Balikuma village in Dhenkanal district.
