Bhubaneswar: A thick blanket of hailstones covered several parts of Damanjodi in Koraput district as hailstorm and rain lashed the area on Saturday.
The people, who were reeling under heat wave for some days, were in for a pleasant surprise in the afternoon as rain accompanied with wind and hailstones left behind a trail of ice chunks and a soothing climate in Damanjodi, Semiliguda, Kunduli and Pottangi.
The climate was cloudy since morning but by afternoon, there was a downpour for almost 30 minutes. After a break of 15 minutes, the rain continued again.
