New Delhi: Seven people were injured in a blast at an illegal firecracker manufacturing unit operating out of a rented house in Nagal Guru village, Jandiala near Amritsar city.
The explosion occurred on Sunday evening when a large quantity of materials used to manufacture firecrackers, stored inside the house, caught fire. The ensuing blast not only injured seven individuals but also caused significant damage to the walls of the building where the illegal operation was being conducted, Financial Express reported.
The injured were immediately rushed to a government hospital in Amritsar, where they are currently receiving treatment. The extent of their injuries and their condition remain undisclosed at this time. The owner of the house, where the blast occurred, claimed ignorance of the illegal firecracker unit being operated on his property. According to police, the landlord stated that he was unaware of the activities taking place and only learned of the situation after the explosion.
Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Police are working to determine the full extent of the illegal operation, including identifying those responsible for running the firecracker unit. Further details will be released as the investigation progresses, the report added.
