Balangir: A complaint has reportedly been lodged with the police after Block Chairman of Patnagarh in Odisha’s Balangir district, Nilakantha Bag allegedly tore an important official file.
As per information, Bag allegedly tore the file related to a road construction work inside the Patnagarh block office. The incident took place inside the chamber of the head clerk, where the file related to a road construction project was kept.
Sources said the incident took place when Block Development Officer (BDO), Suman Minj was away from the office. The entire incident was reporte
d to have been captured on CCTV cameras installed at the office premises.
After being informed about the incident, BDO Suman Minj lodged a written complaint at Patnagarh police station alleging destruction of an official government file. Based on the complaint, police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter.
Sources said the file allegedly torn by the chairman pertained to the final bill of a road construction project from Mallikmunda to Dhatuk. The file was reportedly pending with the head clerk for processing.
Locals said the incident was suspected to have been linked to disputes over the distribution of contract work. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding the reason behind the incident so far.
The BDO said the matter was reported to police after the alleged incident came to light through CCTV footage. A police team reportedly visited the office of the BDO after receiving the complaint as part of the investigation.
