Block Grant Teachers’ Agitation: Sec 144 Clamped Near Evaluation Centres

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government, on Thursday, clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC near Plus II evaluation centres across the state, apprehending trouble from the agitating block grant teachers.

The move came a day after the state Higher Education Department ordered immediate suspension of the absentee examiners appointed for Plus II answer paper evaluation.

However, the block grant teachers under the aegis of All Odisha School and College Teachers and Employees’ United Forum have decided to continue the strike till fulfillment of their six-point charter of demands.

The government has decided to initiate action against the non-reporting examiners as per examination management rule. Under the rule, the violators will serve a three months’ prison term and deposit a fine of Rs 3, 000.
