Bhubaneswar: All Odisha School-College Teachers and Employees’ United Forum will hold a ‘Jana Samavesh’ on Tuesday. Thousands of teachers and employees will participate in the Samavesh.
Around 60,000 teachers and employees from 6,000 institutions of Odisha will be participating in the Samavesh. The teachers, lectures and the employees have been on strike since the last 54 days, but the state government is yet to fulfil their demands.
The teachers also urged the parents and the general people to join the Samavesh. They also threatened to intensify their stir, if the state government will not take any action on their demands.
Notably, the block grant teachers have been on an indefinite strike at Mahatma Gandhi Marg here since August 16.
At a meeting, held on August, Finance Minister Sashibhushan Behera had assured that their demands will be considered after another meeting that will be convened soon. He requested the block grant teachers to withdraw their strike and join duties.
However, the agitators under the aegis of All Odisha School-College Teachers and Employees’ United Forum decided to continue their strike till the demands are met.
