Berhampur: The Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday apprehended Arun Nayak, Beguniapada Block Social Security Officer (BSSO), in Odisha’s Ganjam district while allegedly accepting Rs 6,000 bribe.
He had allegedly demanded the bribe money from a person for submitting inquiry reports in the latter’s favour and that of other eligible applicants for sanction of old age pension under Madhu Babu Pension Yojana long pending with him.
While a case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, against Nayak, simultaneous searches are in progress at three locations linked to him from disproportionate asset (DA) angle, the Vigilance sources said.
