Nuapada: A 24-hour economic blockade, observed by Nagarika Sachetan Manch, demanding immediate repair of National Highway-353 affected movement of heavy vehicles in different parts of Nuapada district on Tuesday.

Hundreds of slogan shouting agitators demonstrated with placards and staged road blockades at various places including Khariar, Komna, Udyanabandha, Kurumapuri, Sinapali and Boden in support of their demand.

Hundreds of trucks remained stranded on the National Highway passing through these areas for several hours.

Owing to the blockade, transportation of good to other parts of the district was disrupted.

However, plying of private buses was exempted from the purview of the bandh.

The protestors demanded that the National Highway should immediately be repaired for smooth flow of heavy vehicles. They also threatened the district administration of intensifying their agitation, if it fails to fulfil their demand at the earliest.
